The space
The Old Cottage, located in Tomerong, NSW is an original 1900’s cottage. Located on 2 acres, the cottage is the perfect escape for couples wanting to explore the beautiful beaches of Jervis Bay or the greater Shoalhaven. The owners, Ben and Louise live on the property, however, the cottage is completely private and has its own courtyard, driveway and gardens.
Cosy up and relax by the fire in winter, read a book or enjoy a cocktail out in the garden. And in the cooler months, the courtyard has a cast iron chiminea and outdoor furniture so the outdoors can be enjoyed all year round. Blankets, hot chocolates and marshmallows are all provided to enjoy the experience.
You’ll often see chickens, ducks and farm animals next door. The property is a working hobby farm, which provides their family with fruit and vegetables all year round, and farm fresh eggs.
The Cottage has been tastefully renovated to honour the character and age of the home, as well as providing modern conveniences. Many of the pieces of furniture in the cottage have been up-cycled and repurposed, Ben and Louise believe in giving old things new life and together have restored many sentimental pieces of furniture to decorate the cottage.
The cottage is a restful, relaxing and beautiful place to stay all year round.
Bedroom & Bathroom
The Queen bed in the cosy bedroom is dressed in 100% European linen for that extra level of luxury and comfort. Come home and soak in the clawfoot bath after a day exploring the region. Note that the shower is over the bath. Sukin Organic Hand Soap, Body wash, Shampoos and Conditioners are all provided for your comfort. Bath towels are provided as well as Beach towels.
Living & Entertainment
The spacious open-plan lounge has been created for relaxation. A cosy fireplace invites you to lose yourself in a good book, while a Smart TV stands ready for those rainy days when you just want to unwind indoors. Choose between the reverse cycle air conditioner for year-round comfort or the wood fireplace, supplied with firewood during winter months for that extra warmth and ambiance.
There are a selection of card games located in the drawers of the sideboard. When you have finished playing please pack away the games and report if any cards or pieces are missing.
Kitchen & Dining
While the kitchen may not boast an oven, it features a stove top, microwave, and fridge for your culinary needs. For a unique experience, venture outside to the chimenea, perfect for winter evenings. A generous amount of firewood is provided over the cooler months and extra can be pre-ordered or arranged upon arrival.
We love providing our guests with free range eggs, however this isn't always possible due to the change in seasons. However if you arrive to a tray of farm fresh eggs, that's our gift to you. Occasionally we might have an abundance of seasonal veggies and fruit from our trees and gardens ~ we love to share and these will always be left on the bench for your convenience. As well as a Nespresso coffee machine and pods, a range of teas, as well as herbal + coffee and hot chocolates during winter are provided for your enjoyment.
Laundry
The laundry is a shared laundry and is available on request. Please contact us if you wish to have access to the laundry so we can advise you of location for use.
Our rates cover all household linen, towels, firewood and a standard departure clean. Prices are based on up to 2 guests, with a maximum of 2 guests plus 1 infant in a portacot. Note that rates are indicative and subject to change.
As devoted caretakers of our hobby farm, we regret to inform you that our cottage is strictly not pet-friendly. This policy ensures the safety of our cherished animals and protects the integrity of our property.
